April 16, 2009 - Weeks steps down from Peg Leg ride

After careful consideration, Mike Weeks has decided to step down as driver for Peg Leg Motorsports. Recent poor performances and mechanical issues with the car led to the decision.

"It wasn't nothing against those guys, but I need to do something different," Weeks said. "It wasn't an easy decision because those guys were so good to me. But we weren't running as good as I thought we should be and I didn't want to be thinking about this for the next few weeks."

Mechanical issues plagued the team at Mountain Raceway last weekend. Weeks failed to make the race, but got into the starting grid on a series provisional. He finished 23rd out of 26 cars.

Weeks will return to his own familiar #22 Trak-Star GTO this weekend at Volunteer Speedway at Bulls Gap.

April 25, 2009 - Third place finish gets "Milkman" headed in right direction

Mike Weeks returned to his familiar #22 Trak-Star car at Tazewell Speedway. The return paid off to the tune of a 3rd place finish.

Mike gave chase to pole sitter Billy Ogle Jr. and Rick Rogers throughout the race. Things got interesting with lapped traffic, but Mike could not take advantage by gaining any spots. Still, a 3rd place finish gives Mike and the team a boost of confidence heading into the month of May.

Mike is tentatively scheduled to go to Tazewell Speedway again this coming weekend.

May 25, 2009 - Rough weekend for Weeks

After a number of recent rain outs, it was time to get back to racing with a weekend of nice weather.

Stop #1 for Mike Weeks was the Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series race at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, GA. Mike finished 3rd in his B-main to make it to the 24-car starting gird. But rough racetrack conditions made racing difficult. Only 8 cars finished the 50-lap race. Mike finished 21st.

Stop #2 was at Tazewell Speedway and the O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series. Another rough racetrack greeted the drivers. For Mike, the rough conditions got him during qualifying as his left rear tire went flat on his first qualifying lap. The tire was peeled off the rim. Mike opted not to start his heat from the rear and loaded up for the night.

Mike is tentatively scheduled to be at Mountain Raceway for a $2,000 to win race.

June 28, 2009 - Third place finish at Tazewell

Mike Weeks returned to Tazewell Speedway for a weekly race at the high-banked, 1/3-mile track.

Mike quailified in the third starting spot just behind Rick Rogers and Vic Hill. Rogers got the early lead with Hill and Mike following closely behind. Hill overtook Rogers for the lead on lap 12. Mike settled in behind Rogers still in third and was able to keep pace with the front two. With 10 laps to go, Mike hit a rut in turn 1 that effected the handling of his #22 Trak-Star GTO. He held of for third when the race was over.

Mike's plans for this week include another weekly race at Tazewell Speedway on July 2nd and Wartburg Speedway's Mack Truck 50 on July 3rd.

July 19, 2009 - First win comes at Tazewell

The streak is over. Mike Weeks won his first race of the season at Tazewell Speedway. The win was a long time coming.

"This has been a tough year," Weeks said. "To start the year with a different team and have things go like not like you wanted them to and then run your own deal on a tight budget has been tough. We've felt like we've had things turned around the last few weeks, we just needed a win to show for it. We finally got it."

Mike will be competing in some of the O'Reilly Southern Nationals races this week. Plans call for Mike to race at Crossville Raceway, Cleveland Speedway, and Tazewell Speedway. Mike will also be racing in the limited late model race at Boyd's Speedway on Friday.

August 2, 2009 - Top 10 finish in Atomic Speedway Memorial

The 3rd annual Atomic Speedway Memorial was held at Mountain Raceway and sanctioned by the Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series. Mike is a former two-time champion at Atomic and decided to enter the event honoring the former 1/3-mile racetrack.

The track was fast and in good shape. A few bumps came up in turn 3. Those bumps affected Mike during qualifying and his Sunoco dash. The right flopper was knocked off the crew. Mike and crew worked to replace it before the feature.

Mike came from 12th starting spot to finish 7th in the race.

Mike will be back at Tazewell Speedway this Saturday night for a $3,000 to win race.

September 7, 2009 - Third place finish for Weeks at Tazewell

The O'Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series returned to Tazewell Speedway for the Buddy Rogers Memorial 44. The $5,000 to win race was also the final race of 2009 for the Bluegrass series.

Mike finished 1st in his heat race, finishing ahead of series champion Victor Lee and Vic Hill. Mike would get a top 3 start for the 44-lap race. A pill draw was used for the heat race winners and Mike drew "3" to get the 3rd starting spot.

As the race started, Mike served notice he was a serious contender. He quickly moved into second on lap 11 behind race leader Billy Ogle Jr. Mike stayed close to Ogle as several early cautions bunched up the field. Following a lap 19 restart, Hill moved past Mike for second. The top 3 stayed close to each other as passing became difficult on the dry, slick track.

Mike went on to finish 3rd.

Mike's next race will be the season finale at Tazewell Speedway on Sept. 26.

November 29, 2009 - Weeks finishes 4th in SRRS finale

After taking a week off, Mike entered the Grant Adcox Memorial SRRS race at Cleveland Speedway. The race was originally scheduled for earlier in the year, but was rained out.

Due to cool temperatures, the race was scheduled for a later afternoon affair. With 40 cars on hand, track position was at a premium.

Mike qualified 4th out of the 40 cars on hand. Not much passing took place on the dry, slick surface. Mike held is own and held on for the 4th finishing spot.

Mike has concluded his 2009 season and wants to thank all his sponsors, crew members, his dad, Lester, and all his fans for their support this season.
