February
24, 2008 - Bad night
for Mike at Bama Bash
What
started off on a good
note quickly turned
the other direction
for Mike at last weekend's
Bama Bash at Green
Valley Speedway. Mike
posted the 9th fastest
time out of 41 cars
on Saturday. During
his heat race, Mike
was battling Bub McCool
for 2nd place when
the j-bar on the rear
suspension broke and
knocked Mike out of
the race. Some significant
damage was done to
the car and the team
opted to head home.
An
electrical problem
near the track caused
a two-hour delay before
qualifying on Saturday
night. With cold and
damp weather in the
area, conditions were
not ideal for teams
and fans. The track's
racing surface was
also a problem as
the track came apart.
"The
track was in bad shape,"
Mike said. "We
had a good car and
we would have made
the show. Anytime
a track is rough like
that, something is
going to break. With
it being as cold as
it was, we decided
not to fix the car
there and just came
on home. We'll be
ready for this weekend
at The Gap if the
weather isn't so cold."
Mike
plans to be at the
Advance Auto Parts
Thunder Series season
opener at Volunteer
Speedway in Bulls
Gap, TN on February
29-March 1. The race
will pay $10,000 to
the winner.

March
24, 2008 - Mike makes
field for Spring Thaw
100, has short night
Mike
finally got in more
racing with the rescheduled
AAPTS opener and the
Spring Thaw 100 at Volunteer
Speedway. Mike posted
the 15th best time out
of 46 cars in Friday's
time trials and finished
2nd in his heat. Mike
finished 5th in his
Sunoco Dash to earn
the 10th starting spot.
During
Saturday's 100-lap feature,
Mike found himself in
the middle of a hornet's
nest with several cautions
happening around him.
Mike dodged those cautions
and continued on. Once
leader Jimmy Owens put
Mike a lap down, Mike
took his #22 Trak-Star
to the pits. Mike will
be deciding where to
race this weekend as
there are several options
he is weighing.

April
12, 2008 - Mike wins
heat in SRRS competition
Rainy
weather finally gave
way to sunny skies for
the April 12th SRRS
event at Mountain Raceway
Park in Maryville, TN.
But the sunny skies
also brought strong
winds that dried out
the racing surface for
the 4/10-mile facility.
Mike
was the 3rd fastest
in his group during
qualifying. SRRS rules
dictate that cars qualify
in groups and the two
fastest drivers from
each group advance and
sending others to heat
races. Mike ran one
of those heat races
and easily won his heat.
With
passing at a premium
all night long, Mike
could make no progress
in his Trak Star race
car. Mike eventually
lost the handling on
his car and parked it
late in the running.
That relegated him to
a 18th place finish.
Mike
will be back in action
this Saturday night
at Tazewell Speedway
for the second race
for the Advance Auto
Parts Thunder Series.

April
20, 2008 - Milkman wins
pole, finishes 3rd at
AAPTS Tazewell race
After
six previous tries were
rained out, the second
race for the Advance
Auto Parts Thunder Series
at Tazewell Speedway
was moved to a Sunday
afternoon race. The
daytime program made
conditions challenging
for drivers to find
passing room.
Mike
"The Milkman"
Weeks was the 6th fastest
qualifier out of 27
cars that signed in
for the event. Through
a new pill draw format,
fast time qualifier
Jimmy Owens drew a number
that got the top 6 inverted,
putting Mike on the
pole for the dash. In
the dash, Mike edged
John Gill for the lead
going into turn 1 and
went on to win the dash
and win the pole for
the 50-lap feature.
The
start of the feature
was a replay of the
dash with Weeks and
Gill on the front row.
But this time, Gill
got the advantage over
Weeks as the field raced
into turn 1. Mike pressured
Gill for most of the
race, but could not
find a place to pull
off a pass on a one-groove
track. As the laps clicked
off, Mike developed
a slow leak in his right
rear tire and eventually
lost second place to
Owens. Mike held off
Vic Hill for third place.
Mike
will be at Wartburg
Speedway this Saturday
night for race 3 of
the Advance Auto Parts
Thunder Series.

April
26, 2008 - Lapped traffic
spoils top 5 finish
Mike
"The Milkman"
Weeks ventured to Wartburg
Speedway for the $5,000
to win Advance Auto
Parts Thunder Series
race.
Mike
won the second of two
Sunoco dashes to earn
the starting 7th starting
spot for the feature.
In
the 50-lap feature,
Mike worked his way
up to 5th place where
he ran most of the night.
But late in the race,
a lapped car would knock
Mike from the race and
out of a top 5 finish.
Mike posted a 14th place
finish.
Mike
will look to rebound
this Saturday at Volunteer
Speedway and a $4,000
to win Advance Auto
Parts Thunder Series
race.

May
3, 2008 - Milkman salvages
10th place finish at
Volunteer
Mike
"The Milkman"
Weeks turned a difficult
weekend into something
positive with a 10th
place finish in the
Advance Auto Parts Thunder
Series race at Volunteer
Speedway.
Track
conditions were unsually
fast at Volunteer. Mike
and crew were expecting
the typical dry, slick
track. The tacky track
threw the team a curve
ball in the early parts
of the program.
Mike
struggled in qualifying
and in his B-main. He
had to take a series
provisional and started
22nd for the 50-lap
event.
Mike
and crew got the car
dialed in and made his
way to a 10th place
finish and won the Phoenix
Conversions Hard Charger
Award.
"It's
usually slick and dry
there," Mike said.
"We had to do something
different and got the
car a lot better. I'm
tickled we got a 10th
place finish out of
the considering where
we started."
Mike
slips to 7th in the
AAPTS standings. Mike's
next race will be the
SRRS race at Wartburg
Speedway on May 9 and
then to Mountain Raceway
Park for the next AAPTS
race on May 10.

May
10, 2008 - Promising
night turns sour for
"The Milkman"
Things
quickly went from good
to bad at the Advance
Auto Parts Thunder Series
stop at Mountain Raceway
Park for Mike Weeks.
Mike qualified 2nd fastest
and won the Sunoco Dash
to win the pole position
for the 50-lap feature.
To
start the feature, it
was outside front row
starter, John Gill,
that took the early
lead. Mike inherited
the lead when Gill retired
from the race a few
laps into the race.
That moved Dale McDowell
and Randy Weaver behind
Mike. Weaver passed
Mike on one restart,
but that was wiped out
by a quick caution.
On the next restart,
McDowell peaked to the
inside of Mike. Weaver
passed McDowell, then
passed Mike for the
lead on lap 7. McDowell
then took over second
and Mike settled into
third.
Mike
was on his way to a
top 5 finish until a
front suspension bolt
worked its way out and
Mike hit the wall in
turn 2 on lap 22. That
knocked Mike from the
race and bumped him
to a 13th place finish.
For
Mike, the finish did
not cost him a spot
in the AAPTS standings
as he currently sits
in 7th in the series
standings. He is 127
points behind series
leader Rick Rogers.
Mike
will be back at Mountain
Raceway this week for
their weekly racing
program as the Advance
Thunder Series takes
this week off.

May
24, 2008 - Weeks has
no luck at Tazewell
Mike
entered the O'Reilly
Battle of the Bluegrass
race at Tazewell Speedway
with optimism. He posted
some good finishes his
last few outings at
Tazewell.
As
luck would have it,
Mike turned in another
disappointing night
at Tazewell. Mired in
midpack for his heat
race and then the feature,
Mike could not make
any progress in coming
through the field. With
attrition being high
and no progress being
made, Mike decided to
call it a night early
and wound up with a
21st place finish.

May
31, 2008 - Milkman rebounds
with 2nd place finish
Mike
Weeks was looking for
something to turn things
around. He may have
found it at Mountain
Raceway Park in Maryville.
Mike
qualified 4th for the
weekly program at MRP.
He made his way past
two cars to finish second
behind race winner Mark
Vineyard. Though it
was not a win, Weeks
said it felt like a
win.
"With
the kind of luck we've
been having the last
few weeks, it sure feels
like a win," Weeks
said. "We feel
good about this coming
weekend."
Mike
will be back at Mountain
Raceway Park for the
O'Reilly Southern All-Stars
race.

|
June
7, 2008 - Troubles continue
for Weeks
The
O'Reilly Southern All-Stars
made their way to Mountain
Raceway Park for a $5,000
to win race. The race
drew 31 drivers for
the event.
Despite
the day being a hot
and steamy day, excellent
track preperation and
late afternoon cloud
cover produced a fast
and tacky racing surface
as evident by the times
produced in qualifying.
Mike Weeks was not one
of the top 10 qualifers
that was locked into
the show.
Mike
did transfer to the
field via one of the
two heat races. Mike
finished 4th in heat
2 to take the 18th starting
spot on the 24-car starting
grid.
When
the 60-lap race started,
it was evident Mike's
troubles were continuing.
Mike could make no progress
to the front on a racey
track. Mechanical troubles
forced Mike to retire
early for an 18th place
finish.

July
12, 2008 - Milkman gets
first win of the season
The
bad luck may be over.
Mike "The Milkman"
Weeks picked up his
first win of th 2008
season at Mountain Raceway
Park in Maryville.
Mike
took the last 3 weeks
off the evaluate his
program after struggling
for the last two months.
The time off paid off
with his first win of
the season.
Mike
led flag-to-flag at
Mountain Raceway in
claiming the win. The
turnaround is credited
to one thing - changing
shocks. Mike switched
the Ohlins shocks and
the change made a big
difference.
"It
was good to finally
get a win," Mike
said. "We've struggled
so much the last few
weeks I didn't think
we were ever going to
get one. We changed
to Ohlins shocks and
that's the only thing
we changed on the car
from our last race.
The car was so much
better with that one
change. I have to thank
Gary Winger for all
his help."
With
more optimism, Mike
will take on two races
this weekend. The first
race will be the O'Reilly
Southern All-Stars Series
at North Georgia Speedway
on Friday night. The
second race will be
back at Mountain Raceway
for the Advance Auto
Parts Thunder Series.

July
20, 2008 - Milkman makes
one, missed one in OSAS
action
After
feeling better about
the current race season,
Mike and team looked
at a pair of O'Reilly
Southern All-Stars races
at North Georgia Speedway
and Cleveland Speedway.
First
was North Georgia Speedway
on Friday night where
38 cars signed in to
make the field. Mike
was one of those to
make the 24-car starting
grid. He took the last
transfer spot in the
2nd of 3 B-main races.
From there, Mike could
not make any progress.
He would eventually
get lapped and parked
his car shortly thereafter.
He posted a 23rd place
finish on the night.
Then
it was on to Cleveland
Speedway on Saturday
night where 43 cars
signed in. Mike could
not get the handle on
his #22 Trak-Star during
qualifying or his B-main.
He failed to make the
field for the race.
It was a disappointing
night on a track where
he's had good success.

August
3, 2008 - Early promise
fades away in AAPTS
action
It
was back to Advance
Auto Parts Thunder Series
action for Mike Weeks
and crew at Mountain
Raceway Park in Maryville.
Mike was one of 32 drivers
signed in for the $4,000
to win Atomic Speedway
Memorial race.
Mike
started the night off
strong posting a time
that earned him a spot
for the first Sunoco
Dash for the top 6 qualifiers.
Mike finished the dash
in the 6th.
Early
in the feature, Mike's
Trak-Star machine looked
to be headed for a good
night. But as the race
progressed, the handling
slowly went away and
Mike faded back to an
11th place finish. Mike
still retains a spot
in the series top 10
standings.
During
the intermission, Mountain
Raceway announced their
2008 class for the track's
hall of fame. Mike's
dad, Lester Weeks, was
one of the new inductees.
Lester will be inducted
at the track's awards'
banquet this coming
winter.
This
week, Mike will try
two nights of racing.
First will be the SRRS
race at Crossville Raceway
on Friday night, then
back to Mountain Raceway
on Saturday night for
another weekly program.

August
10, 2008 - Pair of top
10's highlight weekend
for The Milkman
Mike
ventured to Crossville
Raceway on Friday night
and the Southern Regional
Racing Series race.
Mike turned in the 10th
fastest time out of
28 cars. He won his
heat race to easily
make the starting grid.
From
there, Mike settled
in behind Tony Albright
for much of the race.
Mike began to turn up
the wick late in the
race and gained a couple
of spots. When it was
over, Mike brought home
an 8th place finish
for the night.
On
Saturday, Mike and team
headed back to Mountain
Raceway for another
weekly race. Before
even getting to the
track, things got out
of hand. An ice truck
ran Mike's truck and
trailer off the road
a short distance from
the track. After arriving
at the track, they discovered
the trailer had a broken
axle and tires from
the tire rack inside
the trailer landed on
Mike's car. The crew
spent valuable time
beating the bent sheet
metal back into place
before even preparing
to race. Mike went on
to finish 6th in Saturday's
feature.
"That
just tells you what
kind of season I've
had," Mike said.
"We get run off
the road by an ice truck
and have to beat out
the dents in the car
before we can even race.
This has been one of
those years."
Mike
plans to be back at
MRP this Saturday night.
